† Everything Goes Black: The Bamboo Charcoal †

Bamboo charcoal has a long history back in ancient China and its benefits are remarkable. It is known as takesumi or chikutan in Japanese. Made up of bamboo which is five years old or older, these chopped pieces of bamboo will be burnt inside an oven at a temperature as high as 800 Celsius and taa-dah, the bamboo charcoal is ready.

Why bamboo charcoal? The thing is that, bamboo is one of the fastest growing grass species on Earth and and it is considered a highly renewable energy as it takes less than 4 years to regrow. As usual, charcoals are odorless but the good thing about bamboo charcoal is that, it releases less toxic as compared to other wood charcoal.
